Hi there! My name is Matt, and I’m a professional musician, producer, and songwriter based in Nashville. I’ve spent the past 15+ years immersed in music — touring with major artists, producing tracks in the studio, and writing songs for artists, film, and television. I also serve as a teaching artist for the Country Music Hall of Fame’s “Words & Music” program, where I help students of all ages express themselves through songwriting. My real-world experience gives me a unique perspective that blends theory with application, and I love helping students connect the dots in ways that are practical, inspiring, and tailored to their goals.

I offer tutoring in several areas including ear training, guitar, songwriting, music production, the Nashville Number System, voice, and music business fundamentals. Whether you’re a beginner trying to learn your first chords, an artist looking to chart songs more confidently, or a songwriter preparing for your first pitch meeting, I can help. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly adaptable — I meet students where they are and build from there. I’ve worked with kids, teens, and adults, and I specialize in helping students build confidence and develop skills they can use both creatively and professionally. Let’s work together to grow your musical toolkit and take your skills to the next level.

Ear Training

Ear Training

I’ve spent over 15 years as a working musician and producer, using ear training daily in both studio and live environments. I help students improve their ability to identify intervals, chord qualities, progressions, and melodies by ear—whether for performance, improvisation, or songwriting. My approach is practical, intuitive, and tailored to each student’s musical goals.
Guitar

Guitar

With over 15 years as a professional guitarist in Nashville, I’ve played on hundreds of studio recordings and performed live across the country. I teach acoustic and electric guitar with a focus on rhythm, tone, musical feel, and playing in real-world situations—from singer-songwriter gigs to recording sessions. I also help students build confidence in improvisation, ear-based playing, and chord theory, tailoring lessons to each student’s style and goals.
Music Production

Music Production

I’ve produced hundreds of tracks across genres from pop to country to film and TV sync. Based in Nashville, I work with artists at all stages—helping them take songs from rough demos to radio-ready mixes. I teach the full production process, including song arrangement, vocal production, session planning, tracking, editing, and mixing. I’m fluent in Ableton Live and focus on workflow, creative decisions, and real-world application.
Songwriting

Songwriting

I’ve been writing songs professionally for over 15 years, with cuts and sync placements across genres. I work with both aspiring and established writers to improve lyric writing, melody, structure, and emotional impact. I’m also a teaching artist for the “Words & Music” program through the Country Music Hall of Fame, helping students of all ages express themselves through songwriting. Whether you want to write commercially or for personal growth, I’ll help you develop your unique voice.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I’ve worked as a lead and session vocalist for over 15 years, both live and in studio settings. My teaching focuses on vocal tone, control, phrasing, and performance confidence. I help singers develop healthy technique while staying true to their personal style, whether it’s pop, country, singer-songwriter, or worship. Lessons are personalized to your goals—whether you’re prepping for the studio, the stage, or just want to sound better singing your favorite songs.
