My name is Blake, I am an engineer who has worked in manufacturing for over a decade and I hold a strong a passion for the industry. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with Magna Cum Laude recognition by maintaining a GPA of 3.9. I was recognized by the Dean's List and President's List and taught senior level Heat Transfer during my last semester as a Teacher's Assistant, providing 1-on-1 tutoring and group remediation sessions, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Shortly after graduating I acquired my NCEES FE Certification.

Tutoring in university is what got me hooked, and that's exactly what brought me here! I am here to provide the 1-on-1 support students need in order to accelerate learning. Learning new mathematical and engineering concepts can be similar to learning how to ride a bike - - without training wheels or the right coaching, it can be take longer to get the same result. My goal is to be your "training wheels" - - to get you moving independently as quickly as possible and then remove myself from the equation. I want to see you excel on your own, and can make a daunting subject eventually seem "like riding a bike".

I am new to the platform but eager to get started helped students find academic excellence! I am local to the Nashville, TN area and am willing to come to your home or meet in a public space for tutoring sessions, and of course online sessions are always an option for your convenience! If you have any questions or would like to discuss scheduling tutoring sessions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Calculus

Calculus

As an engineer, I use math in my every day professional and personal life; it is "Integral" to my life. When I took Calculus in college, many of my colleagues were "pre-med" and weren't really interested in math, and that is okay! For many, calculus is the last math course they are required to take, and I am here to help you get through it! For others wishing to become full-on math enjoyers, I can also help you get even further, as I have a solid understanding of advanced Numerical Methods and experience in building robust MatLab code for complex problem solving.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I graduated from the University of Texas with a M.E. degree where I worked as a TA for senior level Heat Transfer. Thermodynamics is a major component of the FE exam and required for professional licensure, which I also passed in my first attempt. Professionally I have designed heat management solutions utilizing the very concepts discussed in these topics.
Physics

Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I am able help with thermodynamics 1 and 2 concepts and problem solving using the laws of thermodynamics to perform energy, entropy, and exergy based analysis of closed and open systems. I studied under Randall Manteufel, a contributor to the textbook, at the University of Texas where I achieved an A in all related courses including Thermo 1, Thermo 2, Heat Transfer, and Thermal Fluid Systems. I was recognized for my proficiency with these subjects and was requested to aid in teaching heat transfer during my senior year as a TA, where I held weekly recitation labs and one on one tutoring. I have designed thermal systems for use in residential cooling/heating, automotive/industrial cooling, and integrated chip manufacturing.

Easy, effective, explanitory

Blake helped me with my upcoming Statics exam. We went over some concepts that I just needed a refresh on. Not only did I get recapped on what I needed, but I was also given pointers on how the problems worked that my professor never pointed out. It really helped me moving forward. 5 stars, definitely would recommend to anyone who is unsure of what tutor to find for Statics due to it not being in the course list on Wyzant's site.

Great Tutor

ME major preparing for FE after 13 years of being out of school: Blake was great to work with. He is very knowledgable and has a genuine interest in mechanical engineering. He was always on time and very well prepared. And I passed the FE!

Great to work with and very quick on his feet

Blake walked me through a few problems on an exam I didn't do so well on. We went over only 2 problems, but I had such a great experience with understanding and figuring out how to apply my skills. I would recommend him to anyone who is struggling in their engineering classes!
