As a Senior Vice President of Hilton Hotels Corporation, I had responsibility for all worldwide corporate communications, PR, investor relations and internal communications. My writing responsibilities included all major press releases, annual reports, executive speeches and presentations. In previous jobs, I wrote the employee handbook for Six Flags theme parks, and a history of American Honda Motor Co. Also, I trained executives in public speaking and dealing with the media.
I am currently a guest lecturer at Lipscomb University and also a high school baseball umpire. In both jobs, I get to do what I Love, helping young people succeed and realize their goals.
Among all the responsibilities I had in my career, what I did best and enjoyed most was writing. I believe having the ability to write effectively and get your points, thoughts and messages across in a clear manner is a basic life skills everyone can use. I was a staff writer for the USC student newspaper, and that helped me sharpen my writing skills.
Before majoring in Journalism, I was a History major. I am an avid reader of US history, especially the period starting with World War II through the Cold War. I have a large collection of books covering this period and through this reading I've become something of an expert in this area.
