I have 2 Masters of Education degrees from MTSU specializing in Curriculum and Instruction and Reading. Although I learned so much in my college years, there is nothing more enticing than watching how children learn. Children learn in so many ways whether it be by reading, manipulatives, watching others, or basic play. Children don't always learn the basic repetitive/worksheet way of teacher, and some children want more of a challenge when it came to learning new concepts. That's what made my preparation in becoming a teacher so important. I am the type of teacher that loves to incorporate all different types of learning skills with children. I love to observe what the children know first and from there is when I incorporate any lessons.
I was a student teacher and a college educational assistant. I am currently working at Stonebrook Day School, and have been there for 5 years. I have had some experience working with children with special needs. I want to see children learn and grow in life, and my goal is to help them learn in such a way that they will be able to retain the information for the rest of their lives.
I love seeing how a child's eyes light up in learning something new. It brings me great joy and satisfaction in knowing children learn the information I have taught them in various ways. I believe that children should take charge of the learning process, and my job is to observe, only intervene if necessary, and help them create what they want to learn and incorporate the daily learning skills in the process.
