Hi I’m Andy! I am an animation student at Middle Tennessee State University! I have a deep love for all animation whether it’s 2D, 3D, or even stop-motion. I have taken several art and animation classes at MTSU. I also have a solid understanding of the 12 principles of animation. I have always loved storytelling, and I love the process of creating an animation. I want to create an easy to understand and fun learning environment. I specialize in the use of Autodesk Maya. I have worked best in the past one-on-one with the students I tutor. I have a specific interest in hard-surface modeling, but I can assist with organic modeling as well. I have helped several students enrolled in my college to make progress on both their personal and classroom 3D projects. I loved seeing their growth and love for the art style, and assisting them was as helpful to them as it was to me.
I’ve spent the past 5 years learning animation, and the past 2 in college majoring in animation. I am an award winning filmmaker and animator. As far as professional experience goes, I’ve done professional work for small businesses around my city. Over 4 years of Maya experience, with a proficiency in using Arnold renderer. I am open to working with any student’s current abilities. I would best be able to help any high school student or college freshman who is interested in 3D animating in Maya. I have many available hours, but I am still in school so it may take a few hours for me to respond but I will within the day. My approach to lessons would be to examine a student's current abilities, and try to push them in areas they maybe are not familiar with and try to expand their 3D toolset. I would also ensure that they have a good understanding of the basic processes and methods, but also they know of several other ways to do things just in case. In this industry it's expect the unexpected, so it is best to learn a variety of methods.
