I am a married father of three. I served in the U.S. Coast Guard and upon an honorable discharge decided to attend the University of Memphis where I received a degree in English and went on to obtain an MFA in Creative Writing. I have been a substitute teacher for all grade levels and taught 9th and 12th grade English as well. I have also worked as a stay-at-home father to my three children who range from the ages of 3 to 15. I know that reaching a three year old is not the same as reaching a 15 year old. The teaching strategies must change and often those strategies must change at a relative pace in order to maintain interest levels.

I love tutoring because it provides the opportunity for one to one interaction. Therefore, I know my students are receiving my undivided attention which correlates to better comprehension of the material taught.

I believe in what I do and how I do it, but am always open to whatever approach best fits the needs of my tutee. I have helped to raise every tutee's grades by at least one letter grade during a particular grading period. I can help with reading, writing, grammar, literature analysis and public speaking. If it has anything to do with the English language I can be of assistance. I have worked with young children and adult/college age students. Therefore, I am comfortable working with any particular age group.

I love to incorporate humor and imagination whenever possible in order to spark interest in what can be a dry subject to many a student. Learning can and should be fun. Let's learn together and have a little fun while doing so.
