After graduating college, I enjoyed a career in journalism that produced several hundred published clips in both newspapers and magazines. I also have experience in creative writing such as poetry, short stories, songwriting and theatrical pieces.
Despite my literary accomplishments, it is teaching/tutoring that brings me the most joy. Most students have at least one subject that doesn't come naturally or creates needless anxiety for the student. I am a firm believer, though, that every student is also capable of overcoming these hurdles with the right encouragement, tools and practice. While writing does come easily to me, I continue to work very hard to perfect my craft. I remember what it was like to not be good at math and too embarrassed to ask for help. If I can help students who struggle in my area of expertise, I will always jump at the opportunity.
I am a published journalist who thoroughly enjoys the process of correctly crafting ideas into literary works of art. Both my formal education and my career taught me many lessons in the areas of grammar, proper use of the English language, using the written word to communicate and the importance of proofreading.
I also have experience with editing beyond my own career. I have helped others with the editing of their own private and professional pieces and submissions.
I have been playing guitar for the last 17 years. I taught myself and have experience giving guitar lessons as well.
