I have over 10 years of experience working as a tutor since 2014. I took AP Chemistry (scoring 5/5) and IB HL Chemistry (scoring 6/7). I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Biochemistry, attended medical school at UT Southwestern Medical Center earning a doctoral degree in 2022, and am currently a pediatric physician.

I have done one-on-one tutoring 60+ students in chemistry at the high school, AP, IB, and college levels. I have led small-group tutoring with groups of 2-8 students. In addition to chemistry, I have also tutored Elementary Math, Elementary Reading, Pre-algebra, and Algebra which has helped me develop flexible teaching strategies for students across different ages and learning styles.

When I was in high school, chemistry was my most challenging subject. Because I struggled myself, I learned how to turn complex topics into simpler steps. I relied on memory tools to help me remember the material. Even though it has been over 15 years since I first learned chemistry as a student, my beginning strongly shapes how I teach to this day.

For every new student I meet, I take a personalized approach. Some students tell me they are trying to make sense of the classroom lessons. Others tell me that the notes make sense but feel lost when it comes to apply concepts on the test. It can be challenging to learn new concepts when you are one of many students. I answer questions as they pop up. I go through material in bite-size chunks and pause often to allow students to ask questions. I create "pop quiz" questions similar to homework and textbook problems. Beyond chemistry, my students will learn how to think, synthesize information, and problem solve. Previous students have commented on my thorough understanding, helpful explanations, individualized study techniques, and tendency to make complicated problems seem easy. My favorite moments are when a student shares that something finally makes sense or that a problem was actually fun to solve.

Amazing Tutor

Jenny was very patient with me and explained all the information I needed to know in an understanding way. She didn't get frustrated if I didn't understand a simple concept. She was very nice and very smart.

The best chemistry tutor you will find!

Jenny helped my son with his Chemistry Honors over many lessons since last academic year. She is a friendly professional and she is great at adapting to what my son needs. She certainly knows the subject and explains things clearly. She is super patient and willing to answer questions over and over again and go back and re-explain concepts until he understands. She is probably the best chemistry tutor you will find. Highly recommend Jenny.

Lesson 2

She went through the properties of Voltaic Cells and Electrolytic cells in such a clear manner (even going further and adding in the extra higher level content + which helped explain and clarify the doubts I had) In addition, we went through some of the questions in my homework and worked through the two questions step by step, breaking it down (which helped immensely, I now have a better understanding of how to work through those types of questions)
