Bio

My name is Mallori Howell; I am a summa-cum-laude graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in pre-K/primary education. I have sixteen years' teaching experience working with children ranging from pre-kindergarten to second grade, mainly in the classroom environment. I am able to assist with all elementary subject areas from pre-K to third grade, but my strengths are with reading skills, such as comprehension, phonics, vocabulary, and sight word learning.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Arizona State University. I have had six years' experience working with children ranging from pre-kindergarten to second grade. I have already taught a variety of subjects, including science, phonics, grammar, reading comprehension, art, and math. I prefer to work with children ages five to eight; however, I have experience working with children ages three, four, and nine as well, and so don't mind any job involving pre-kindergarten or third grade subjects.

I have had ten years' experience working with Microsoft Windows, starting at Windows 3.1 and currently with Windows 7. I am able to easily navigate through documents or files, and am proficient with Microsoft Office programs (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). I am also able to help others refine web searches, and have a bit of experience with web design.
Phonics

Phonics

I have worked extensively with students on phonics during my student teaching in a second grade classroom. Some examples of phonics skills I have taught include learning about letter sounds, how to sound out words by syllables or word parts, and the use of prefixes and suffixes. I have also worked with a low-level reading group which needed extra work on phonics skills, using stories centered around words with specific letter sounds.
