Hello! My name is Bryan, and I recently completed my Master's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University after earning my Bachelor's degree in the same field. Throughout my academic career, I have enjoyed helping students build confidence in STEM subjects and develop strong problem-solving skills. My background includes advanced coursework in mathematics, chemistry, physics, programming, and data science.

My tutoring experience began in high school through the National Honor Society, where I tutored fellow students in chemistry, physics, algebra, and precalculus. I also worked privately with middle and high school students in algebra and precalculus. At Johns Hopkins, I served as a peer tutor for Physics I and II for two years and worked as a math tutor at Henderson Hopkins School, where I was later promoted to Head Tutor and supervised a team of tutors while continuing to teach students. During graduate school, I served as a Teaching Assistant for both Gateway Computing: Python and Statistical Modeling with Python, supporting students through office hours, project guidance, grading, and classroom instruction.

My teaching philosophy is centered on building conceptual understanding rather than memorization. I work with students to develop intuition, confidence, and independent problem-solving skills that extend beyond a single assignment or exam. I adapt my teaching approach to each student's needs, whether they are preparing for a test, completing coursework, learning Python, or strengthening their foundation in STEM subjects.

I currently tutor mathematics (algebra, precalculus, and calculus), chemistry, physics, and Python programming. I am also available to help students prepare for the quantitative portions of standardized exams, including the SAT and ACT. On my own exams, I earned a 770 on the SAT Math section, a 34 on ACT Math, and a 36 on ACT Science.

ACT Math

I earned a 34 on the ACT Math section and have years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics across a variety of levels. Through my engineering education and tutoring background, I have developed strong problem-solving techniques that translate well to standardized testing. I help students improve both speed and accuracy while reinforcing the underlying mathematical concepts tested on the ACT. I strive to make challenging topics approachable and manageable.

I earned a perfect 36 on the ACT Science section and have extensive experience working with scientific data, analysis, and problem-solving through both academic and industry research. The ACT Science section is often more about interpreting information than memorizing scientific facts, and I help students develop the analytical skills needed to succeed. My background in engineering and scientific research allows me to teach effective strategies for reading graphs, evaluating experiments, and answering questions efficiently. I focus on helping students improve both confidence and performance on test day.
