Salvte discipul discupulaeque prspectv! I’m Owen, and I have a Bachelor’s in Latin and a Master’s in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies. I realized very early on in college that the parts of learning a foreign language that I found easiest were not so easy for others. Using the deep understanding of Classical Latin and Ancient Greek I developed in my studies, I have learned to break down those complexities of language in ways my students have found much more intuitive than the standard presentations found in most textbooks. Beyond the field of grammar, I provide my students with a wealth of cultural and historical background information to help connect the abstract ideas they are learning to more familiar topics.
For over 5 years, I have worked with students—ranging from 6th graders just starting in the language to retirees looking to learn something new to keep their brain sharp—both one-on-one and in small groups. Whatever the level or background of my students, I can provide tools and encouragement to unveil the mysteries of Latin and Greek and make these dead language come alive.
I want to make my students as comfortable with learning as possible and, while I have access to a wide range of materials, I am always happy to adapt to whatever materials a student already has.
