As an experienced tutor and educator, I have spent the last several years working closely with students from kindergarten through middle school, helping them grow in reading comprehension, writing fluency, vocabulary development, and study skills. I hold a Bachelor’s in English (currently in progress) and have completed training in early literacy and differentiated instruction. In addition to my academic background, I’ve developed and implemented personalized learning tools for young learners through my tutoring business, DesTine’ Discovering Scholars. My goal is to not only teach the lesson but to help students discover confidence, purpose, and joy in their learning journey.

I’ve tutored in both one-on-one and small group settings—virtually and in person—for over five years. My students have ranged from early readers just starting with CVC words to upper elementary students working on essays, grammar, and standardized test prep. My approach combines patience, creativity, and faith-based encouragement when appropriate, especially for students who struggle with confidence or attention. I’ve used tools like phonics games, interactive stories, guided reading, and affirmations to engage and support every learner at their level.

What sets me apart is the intentional, affirming space I create with each session. I meet students where they are—academically and emotionally—and tailor every lesson to their unique needs and goals. Whether your child is learning to read, needs writing support, or could use a little academic motivation, I’m here to help them thrive in a way that feels empowering and uplifting.
