Hello,
My name is Kourtney I am a proud Memphian and I'm currently working on my 2nd degree from Southwest TN Community College in Business IT. I and I was apart of the TN Achieves program when I was a high school senior. The amount of support and mentoring I received really had a lasting impact and helped me so that I decide I was going to return to my Alma Mater to become a mentor help tutor myself and I have proudly been serving as a high school mentor for 3 years now. Its and honor to be able make a positive impact in young peoples lives and to be a liaison in their transional stage of life. I chose to mentor/tutor because since graduating school and been out in the workforce a few years I have learned the importance of support and mentoring and how having a mentor can really make a impact in your life. Being a first generation college student in my family I really relied of the help of my mentors when it came to filing out my FAFSA and applying for colleges and scholarships. If it wasn't for my mentors I probably wouldn't have even went to college because the simplest tasks such as making sure my FAFSA was complete and submitted on time felt impossible. Having someone hold my hand during the transition from high school to college is the reason why I am proud to say I'm a college graduate now and working on my second degree in my 20's.
