I have tutored Algebra for over 10 years.

Elementary (K-6th)

My style of communication is open and I like for my students to be involved in his/her tutoring experience as I do not decide before the session everything that I want to cover. I do not judge and do not literally look over a shoulder as my students are working. The grades K-6 are especially critical to determine a strong fundation. Since 2003 I have been a TASK (Teachers Aiding Student Knowledge) tutor specializing in general math, organization, vocabulary, and test prep. For several of these years I have held a full time job (Thompson Oncology), as well. After proving success with my students, several parents have convinced me to tutor full time. To date I tutor privately at the West End branch of the public library and at Sacred Heart Catherdral School. Tutoring is a truly rewarding career and I know that I have made the right decision to tutor full time.

Elementary Math

18 years of math tutoring experience for all levels and varying learning disabilities.

Geometry

Standard, CP or Honors I have tutored Geometry in middle school venues and to middle school and high school students for 18 years.

Phonics

Lately I have been tutoring Phonics to rising third grader with much success. I have used the program with my own two children who learned to read before they were each three years old. Both were reading on a fifth grade level by the first grade. Many local schools do not use the program, but I find that Phonics is quite effective for a few of those students who do not respond well to trying to read a word a few times and then ask a teacher. For the majority, it works just fine, but for a few, Phonics is just the answer for them.

Prealgebra

Over 20 years of experience supporting middle and high school students in math, especially those attending top private schools across the U.S. Also works as a substitute math teacher, bringing classroom insight to one-on-one sessions. Specializes in both honors and standard-level coursework, with a focus on pre-algebra, algebra, study strategies, and test preparation. Sessions are student-centered, flexible, and designed to reduce stress while building confidence and academic independence.

Study Skills

The best part of tutoring is hearing about better grades and the confidence that the student has along with his or her success.
