Hi,I'm Debra! I hold a Master’s degree in English with a focus on writing, critical analysis, and clear communication, and I have experience supporting high school, college, and adult learners as they develop stronger writing skills. I have worked with students in one-on-one tutoring settings as well as in an online instructional environment teaching English-language learners, where I helped students improve grammar, organization, and confidence in written expression. My academic background allows me to guide students through the full writing process, including thesis development, essay structure, revision strategies, and sentence-level clarity.
In my tutoring, I focus on helping students understand how writing works rather than simply correcting their papers. I walk students step by step through organizing ideas, strengthening arguments, and revising drafts so they can apply these skills independently in future assignments. I regularly support students with essays, research papers, personal statements, resumes, and ESL writing, and I work with learners at different confidence levels by adapting sessions to their goals and learning style.
In addition to my academic teaching experience, I currently work in a cardiovascular intensive care environment where I review complex written information for clarity, accuracy, and organization in a fast-paced professional setting.
