Hi, I'm Allison! I am a lifelong learner who loves helping others further their educational goals. I have a diverse teaching and tutoring background. From 2016 to 2021, I served as a teaching assistant, instructor, or grader in the History Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. There, I assisted students in building their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing skills through the study of history. During my time teaching undergraduates, I strove to meet students where they were and build their skills while taking into consideration their different backgrounds. I enjoyed watching my students grow over the course of the semester and have those "a-ha" moments.
These experiences at UNC-CH showed me that I am an educator at heart. Therefore, in the Spring of 2022, I transitioned to tutoring professionally. Over the course of my time tutoring, I have had the opportunity to support students in English Language Arts, reading, mathematics, and standardized test preparation. Tutoring has enabled me to work with middle school and high school students as well as undergraduates and graduates. I have found such joy in working with young learners and helping them build those fundamental skills that are essential to their future success.
