If you happen to be looking specifically for a calculus tutor, especially AP Calculus, skip at any time to where it says "standout calculus qualifications." As a certified math (and French) teacher for 25+ years with experience teaching all levels from algebra through calculus, and now with over 7 years of experience as a self-employed full time tutor, I know why students "don't get" certain topics. My familiarity with the obstacles enables me to better help students overcome them. Rather than show students gimmicks to help remember, I focus on helping students understand. Understanding is, after all, what learning is all about, and it is the key to long term success in math. My slogan is, "If you don't why, why know?"

The "aha" moment is my favorite part of what I do. Math is supposed to be understood, not memorized and regurgitated. My three favorite words are "That makes sense!" So if you or your child would like to see some "aha" moments, contact me to get started. You won't regret it.

Standout calculus qualifications:
In 6 years teaching AP Calculus, my AP Exam pass rates were as follows:
Year 1 (AP Calculus AB): 88% (in a year where the "veteran" had a pass rate of below 60%)
Year 2 (AP Calculus BC): 95%
Year 3 (AP Calculus AB): 85% (first year in a small school whose Precalculus class had been a joke)
Years 4-6 BC (AP Calculus BC): 100% (67% 5; 25% 4; 8% 3)
All AP Calculus courses were taught on a traditional bell schedule, i.e. about half of the instructional time as an AP Calculus course taught over two semesters on the semester block schedule.
