Hey, I'm Besiah! I am a Public Health Major with a concentration on Health Sciences. I am also a minor in Applied Spanish, in which I have been studying since a freshman in high school. I have worked with tutoring kids when I was one myself, at 15 years old. In this space, I was able to help children with various homework tasks and explain school-taught concepts. This experience during my high school days has been heightened with work I have done with various non-profits in the area that help underserved communities and minorities. Working with underserved communities helped me to grow in my passion of public health and policy.
Language studies have been an enthusiasm of mine since high school as well. Exploring both language and culture has opened communication opportunities for me in my life and created many of my friendships. I believe in the power of learning other languages and specifically have studied Spanish as a result.
My approach to learning is with a perspective of making material relevant to the present and creating fun experiences that are unforgettable. During my time at college, I took the time to organize my studies and create mnemonics and notes that involve interesting scenarios. I found the best professors I have had take this approach with their lessons to make materials well memorable by injecting into lessons their fun personalities. I prefer to do the same to help others grow as I have!

My professors in Spanish have provided me with countless resources and techniques in not only learning Spanish vocabulary but also retaining grammatical concepts. I have the ability to explain the root of Spanish words and help with applying it to daily conversation.
