Bio

I've been tutoring for roughly four years, covering a variety of math courses and each undergraduate chemistry course mandated by the American Chemical Society. By cultivating a supportive environment, I’ve helped students with anxiety, ADHD, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and dyslexia improve their grades significantly and quickly, often from failing grades to a B or above.

I believe that by being patient with students, providing encouragement, and making learning less stressful, I can help accelerate their academic growth. A student’s emotional state has a much greater impact on their ability to learn than most educators realize, and the right blend of enthusiasm and kindness can help any student absorb material they might otherwise struggle to grasp.

I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, a minor in Physics, and a strong proficiency in mathematics up to and including multivariable calculus. My three years of experience as a chemistry teaching assistant complement my tutoring experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed helping students in both contexts. I scored in the 98th percentile on the GRE Analytical Writing section, and I’m excited to use my multidisciplinary expertise to meet a diverse array of students’ needs.

Organic Chemistry

My passion for organic chemsitry stems from its utility in drug design and catalysis, which has been reflected in the independent research projects I started at each of my Research Experiences for Undergraduates. I have two manuscripts in progress stemming from my inventions at each institution, and the 5 years of autodidactic study that both preceeded and coincided with my formal education have been critical to my success. My synthetic skills and understanding of organic chemistry are most well demonstrated by my having developed the first ever route to an amino-acid derived isoxazole ligand, with its design poised to supplant oxazolines in a variety of asymmetric catalytic processes.
