I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Virginia, and I was previously a licensed teacher in the state of Virginia. I taught in Virginia public schools for three years, and during my first year I was honored to receive the Lee County Teacher of the Year award. Since then, I have continued working with young children through Head Start programs, where I’ve supported early learners in developing strong academic and social-emotional foundations. Most of my experience has been in the classroom, although I have also worked one-on-one with students who needed additional guidance or individualized support.
I am especially passionate about teaching science and early childhood sciences, including earth and physical sciences, as well as psychology-related foundations that help children understand themselves and the world around them. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and encouraging. I believe that every child learns differently, so I adapt lessons to each student’s learning style, incorporate real-world examples when possible, and help students build study habits that set them up for long-term success. I genuinely enjoy watching students grow, gain confidence, and discover that they are capable of more than they originally believed.
I am drawn to tutoring because it allows me to make a more personal impact than is always possible in a full classroom setting. Working one-on-one gives me the chance to truly understand a student’s needs, strengths, and challenges, and to support them in a meaningful way. I am also a military spouse and a homeschooling parent, which has deepened my appreciation for flexibility, compassion, and individualized education. My goal as a tutor is to create a positive learning experience where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed.
