Hello! My name is Yasuko Miyahira. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I am from Akita, Japan, a native Japanese speaker, and have been working as a Japanese language instructor and tutor for 4 years. And I absolutely love it! I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Linguistics from Brigham Young University. I have taught several Japanese courses in a college, small group classes, and one-on-one private tutoring (both in person and via online platforms). I have worked with many students in elementary, middle, and high school, and adult students, and helped them improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. I am patient, positive, encouraging, and love to help students achieve their goals!

During our first session, we can speak in Japanese and English to assess where you are in your Japanese learning journey, establish clear and achievable goals you would like to accomplish through our tutoring sessions, and get to know each other! Please share your hopes and dreams, your passions and interests, and how you learn the best. We will create learning plans and decide on resources you would like to use moving forward. Please share any thoughts and insights you would like me to know!

Depending on your goals, our future sessions will look different - our focus, how we spend the time, and which resources we will use. Each of our sessions will be tailored to meet your needs, goals, and learning styles. It can be as structured or relaxed as you want it to be. I am here to help YOU succeed. My primary goals for each session are these: 1) You enjoy and progress each session, and 2) I teach you the real, natural, and applicable Japanese spoken by native Japanese speakers.
