Hello! My name is Malachi. I received my undergraduate degree double majoring in Philosophy and Humanities. I studied Theology at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA, and received my MA from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, IL in Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. I am currently taking my PhD at the University of Notre Dame in Christianity and Judaism in Antiquity, where I specialize in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible.
I routinely teach online classes in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. I have had formal trainining in the following ancient languages: Latin, Greek, Hebrew (biblical and Mishnaic), Ugaritic, Akkadian, Aramaic (Imperial, Biblical, Talmudic), Syriac, Arabic, Phoenician. I have had formal training in the following modern languages: Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Modern Hebrew.
As I am finishing my PhD, I have had many years to reflect on the pedagogical process and have refined my own understanding of both learning and teaching. Whether it is for learning a language or studying literature, it is imperative to have a knowledgeable teacher. Not only should this teacher be able to answer the question itself, but situate the student's concern in the broader matrix of the language. And I am here to do that! I am happy to help each student with their particular needs: pronunciation and grammar of Hebrew, reading Latin texts, working of Ugaritic paradigms. I'm here to guide you!
