My overall experience is diverse and includes but is not limited to, structural biology, chemical biology and biological chemistry, analytical chemistry, and computational chemistry. I have co-authored nearly fifty publications and have also taught and supervised undergraduate and graduate students.

Based on my research and teaching experiences, I can confidently teach the following courses:

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biochemistry

Biochemistry is the subject to learn the chemistry of life at the molecular level. I have a PhD in chemistry and I spent 20 years for research and teaching. I have used diverse approaches that are essential to understand the biochemical and biophysical phenomena in the nature. I have taught and supervised undergraduate and graduate students as a lecturer and also a mentor. I love to teach students at the high school and college level students.

Chemistry

I have a Ph.D. in chemistry. I have spent the past 12 years conducting research in the structural biology for cancer drug discovery at a Children’s Research Hospital. I have extensive teaching experiences at college level (undergraduate and graduate students) and research experiences in chemistry and biochemistry. As a result, I published about 50 papers. As a teacher, I have passion to teach people with patience. I have used different approaches such as hands-out and molecular modeling because students have different learning styles. I am very confident to teach chemistry at the high school and college level students.

Korean

I was born in South Korea and come to USA in 2001 as a researcher (postdoctoral fellow). Korean language is the mother tongue. I have been a teacher at a Korean School (Memphis), which is sponsored by the Korean government and is registered as a non-profit institute in TN, around 10 years. My students are very diverse in terms of ages and cultures. I am tutoring an undergraduate student who wants to focus on speaking and listening skill. As a higher educated people with intensive experience, I am qualified to teach Korean language.

Organic Chemistry

Organic chemistry is a chemistry to explore the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds. To study the structure of these compounds, several spectroscopies such as nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) and infrared spectroscopy have to be used. I have a PhD in chemistry and spent around 20 years in chemistry field conducting the theoretical and experimental experiments that are essential to organic chemistry. I like to teach students at the basic high school or college level.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

Ho-Jin is committed to helping his students to learn Korean correctly and is patient and diligent at the same time. He also allows me to learn phrases out of class so that I can talk a little better with a friend. He is affordable and the best value, in my opinion, for learning Korean.
