I am a licensed high school science teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Chemistry Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also hold a Biology endorsement. I currently teach high school Chemistry and 9th-grade Life Science and have previous experience teaching Physical Science. Before becoming a full-time classroom teacher, I gained additional experience working with students as an educational assistant, substitute teacher, and student teacher. These roles have given me experience supporting students both in the classroom and through more individualized and small-group instruction.

My primary tutoring areas are Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Physical Science, and general middle and high school science. In my classroom, I regularly work with students who have different levels of background knowledge and confidence in science. My approach is to first identify where a student is struggling and then break the concept into manageable pieces. I use examples, diagrams, guided practice, and questioning to help students understand why something works rather than simply memorizing an answer or formula.

As a current classroom teacher, I also have experience creating lessons, assessments, laboratory activities, review materials, and differentiated instruction. My graduate work in Curriculum and Instruction has strengthened my ability to adjust instruction based on individual student needs. I want tutoring sessions to be supportive and approachable while still challenging students to develop the skills and confidence needed to work independently.
