Bio

I graduated from Peabody College in 1978 with a degree in special and elementary education. My emphasis was on teaching students with learning disabilities. I was a special education teacher for three years in an elementary school in Savannah, Georgia. I then moved back to Tennessee and have been teaching special education in Williamson County for 29 years. I graduated from Peabody College in 1978 with a degree in special and elementary education. My emphasis was on teaching students with learning disabilities. I was a special education teacher for three years in an elementary school in Savannah, Georgia. I then moved back to Tennessee and have been teaching special education in Williamson County for 29 years. I began at Fairview Middle as a self-contained teacher working with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I later became an Inclusion teacher and co-taught with the regular ed teachers in the classroom. After eight years in Fairview, I transferred to Brentwood Middle school and have been there ever since. I have continued to teach in the Inclusion model and have primarily taught in Language Arts and Math classes. I have also spent much time working with students who have weak organizational skills. For the last ten to twelve years I have looped with my students, starting with them in 6th grade and following through the 8th grade. This has been a valuable experience, for I have been truly able to get to know my students but their parents as well. I just finished teaching 8th graders so I will be starting in 6th grade again next year. I have also tutored at the Learning Lab in Brentwood. I enjoy working one on one with students and believe I am well qualified to work with elementary and middle school students. I have recently retired after teaching for 33 years and am available to tutor not only after school, but also during the day.

I taught special ed in Williamson County for 30 years. I taught kids with ADD and ADHD in language arts, math, and organizational skills. I understand the challenges they face every day. I graduated from Peabody College in 1978 with a degree in special and elementary education.

I have taught over 33 years and have spent at least ten on those years co-teaching in inclusion 6th grade classrooms. I have tutored students in grades 1-8 in math, science, social studies, reading and language arts.

I received a degree from George Peabody College in Nashville in 1978 in elementary education and special education focusing primarily on children with learning disabilities. I taught special education for 33 years. My experience has been mostly with LD children but also includes experience in working with children that are ADD, ADHD, language disabled, and autistic. I have worked in self-contained and inclusion classrooms. I have experience in modifying assignments, writing IEPs, and helping children with disabilities be academically successful.

I have spent a vast amount of time over the last thirty-two year working with students to complete homework, prepare for tests, and assist with organizational skills. I have worked with students not only in the classroom but also before and after school. Depending on the individual's particular learning style, I have adapted material as needed, test accommodations and modifications as needed in order to allow them to succeed. Whether they have studied best with flash cards, help on note taking, oral testing, or repeated drill and extra practice, I have tried to give them access to the tools that would help them be successful.
