Hi! My name is Madeline R., and I’m a Denison University graduate with a degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish. I was a student-athlete on the Denison Women’s Soccer Team, and I truly understand the importance of balancing academics with a busy schedule. During college, I benefited from our peer tutoring system and now enjoy giving back by helping others succeed through tutoring.

Over the past two years, I lived and worked in Madrid, Spain as an English Teaching Assistant, while also offering private tutoring to students seeking extra help. My passion for languages has grown tremendously - I studied Spanish for 8 years in school, studied abroad in Sevilla for five months, and gained full immersion by living in Madrid. As a tutor, I try to create a friendly, interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing. I start my lessons with warm-ups like casual conversation or word games to build confidence and get students talking. I believe in forming real connections with my students - once we build trust, the learning becomes more engaging and effective. My lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and needs. I use worksheets and structured exercises to explain or reinforce concepts, always taking the time to talk through each question so that students understand the why, not just the what. I typically end sessions with fun review games or open Q&A to strengthen retention and encourage curiosity. I love working with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I’m quick to respond to any questions or requests.
