With 19 years of teaching experience at the college level Spanish and fluency in Romanian, I bring both a deep knowledge of language instruction and a strong commitment to student-centered learning.
I am well-versed in ACTFL proficiency guidelines, performance descriptors, Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs), and communicative teaching methods. As a Senior Spanish Lecturer, I have had the opportunity to teach Latin American literature and civilization courses, as well as all levels of Spanish language classes—from introductory (101, 102, 111) to intermediate levels (201, 202). This range has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the teaching and learning processes across various stages of language acquisition.
My courses incorporate a blend of assessments and activities, including communicative tasks, in-class and online exercises, quizzes, compositions, and listening and reading assignments designed around the IPA model. I also use a variety of teaching techniques—lectures, audiovisual materials, group discussions, and interactive digital tools—to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
I believe that my multilingual background allows me to present linguistic concepts from unique and culturally rich perspectives, enhancing the learning experience for my students. Furthermore, I have consistently received excellent student evaluations, which reflect my dedication, enthusiasm, and effectiveness as an educator.
