My name is Stephanie G., and I recently graduated from East Tennessee State University in May 2026 with my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Pre-K–3. Before pursuing teaching, I worked in the banking field for 11 1/2 years, where I gained strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. During my education program, I completed over 600 hours of field experience and student-teaching in various early childhood and elementary classroom settings, working with students in Pre-K through 4th grade. I also worked for Project On-Track as a tutor for one year, supporting students in grades K–4 with academic skills, confidence, and classroom readiness.
My tutoring experience and classroom training have helped me develop a strong understanding of how young children learn best, especially in reading and math. I enjoy helping students build foundational skills such as phonics, fluency, comprehension, number sense, problem-solving, and basic math strategies. My approach to tutoring is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I like to meet students where they are, explain concepts in a way that makes sense to them, and use engaging strategies that help them feel successful rather than overwhelmed.
I believe every child has academic potential, and one of my biggest goals as a tutor is to help students gain confidence in themselves. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. Whether a child needs extra support, practice with a specific skill, or help building confidence in reading or math, I strive to create a positive learning experience that is supportive, clear, and encouraging. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them believe that they are capable learners.
