Hi there, my name is Bailey! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education focused on Mathematics. I started college as a Mathematics major planning to get my Master’s in Education, but decided to switch. During my time teaching I decided to get my certification in Algebra I. I’ve been lucky enough to have fantastic role models and mentors in my teaching career thus far. This is something that I take with me when teaching my students correctly and tutoring any students! Math isn’t the most favorited subject, but I can honestly say when it is more engaging students tend to fall in love with it! My favorite part of helping students is seeing their faces when they truly understand something that uses to be confusing to them. They light up! I will start my lessons with an engaging conversation, question, or task that relates to them, whether it will be beneficial for them later in life or it relates to their life right now. From there I will directly teach the material to the student, making sure all questions have been answered. I believe in giving the students problems to solve on their own while I am still there in case any news questions arise and then also for them to practice on their own.
I have two and half years certified teaching experience with levels from 6th grade math to Algebra I. The school I currently teach at has started to offer after school tutoring sessions to students with different types of learning abilities, which has allowed me to have more one on one time with students who are struggling with topics. It has also allowed students in small groups to practice math problems with my guidance directly there.
I want to help the students I work with succeed in math so they feel confident in the classroom setting! I will gladly take suggestions from parents or the student on how I can help them learn and understand the material. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or to schedule any tutoring sessions. I respond quickly!
