Trying to improve your SAT Verbal score? Looking to prepare for the US History or AP Lang & Lit Tests? Mystified by your English or History class? Need to improve your score on the ToEFL test? Are you writing an essay or applying to college and need guidance? Just need someone to look over that final draft? Well, look no further!

My name is Rob, and I am a National Board Certified teacher, trained in both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate methods, with over 18 years of classroom-teaching experience. I have a breadth of experience that spans from teaching writing workshops for students with ADHD to guitar lessons, and I've taught ages ranging from kindergarten to adults. I am currently located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and wherever you are, I would love to be the tutor that helps you (or your student) reach your ultimate academic potential!

I began teaching in 2003 after graduating from a specialty teaching program at Texas State University in San Marcos, and I've always worked hard to stay at the forefront of both technology and methodology. I developed and for ten years ran a college readiness/test-prep program at one of the highest-ranked high schools in Austin, Texas. While running my program, I collected data at the beginning, middle, and end of each semester which showed that my students improved their SAT English scores an average of 15-25%.

In addition to my experience within the United States, my career includes 7 years teaching overseas in China learning Mandarin and teaching ESoL.

Unlike many tutors, I design much of my own content (graphic organizers, test-prep strategies, video courses), and I provide custom and targeted feedback on writing assignments. Feel free to inquire about my methodology!

I also tutor groups at cheaper rates! 2-3 students can receive tutoring for $35/hour, and groups of 4+ can receive tutoring for $25/hour. All rates, naturally, are negotiable dependent on the subject tutored and number of sessions.

Great lesson

This lesson really helped me grasp the concept of writing the thesis of argumentative essays. It made it much easier to identify the prompt and answer it correctly.

Great lesson

We reviewed my essay this week, and Robert went over the strengths and weaknesses in the essay. He not only helped me realize what I could do better on this essay, but it potentially helped me improve with future essays.

Very patient and flexible!

Robert is very quick to respond and super accommodating with offering times that will fit your schedule. He also breaks down complex topics into easy to understand concepts which has helped me tremendously with tackling my issues with the SAT verbal section. I have been enrolled in a very expensive test prep program to which I have devoted a ton of time with not much improvement. I wish I found Robert sooner, it would have been much less time and cost with a much better score outcome!

Perfect SAT tutor for me!

Super quick and helpful in diagnosing the details of where I was making mistakes in the verbal section of the SAT and providing a simple approach to remedy it. I am finally unstuck from repeating the same mistakes and being unable to improve m score! Would highly recommend Robert to anyone needing help with SAT verbal!
