You deserve the best possible education, so why not give yourself the best possible tutoring? Like they say, A GOOD EDUCATION REALLY PAYS YOU -- FOR LIFE!

It always makes my day when my students get higher scores on exams than they ever thought possible, and they master a subject that used to be difficult, so that it becomes easy for them. (My students appreciate the fact that I often give free bonus hours of tutoring, so they can get extra help when needed, without having to worry about the clock during our lessons.)

I have many years of tutoring experience, but that's not as important as you and your success in life, starting with your most challenging subjects. With my help, you can learn at a pace that is comfortable for you, in ways that match your learning style. Sometimes, all it takes is a lesson or two--to fill in the gaps--and then you're ready to handle it on your own. After that, if you ever need any help, just let me know. I'm always glad to help.

Thanks to Online Tutoring Technology, we can work together, as if we were sitting at the same table, even if you are halfway around the world. When it comes to scheduling, I'll do my best to be flexible, so you can get the help you need, when you need it. You're welcome to call, text, or email any time. (Text message is usually fastest).

For more information, just EMAIL with a click, or SCAN the QR code. You're also welcome to see the testimonials from my current and previous students at www.wyzant.com/tutors/MakingMathEasy

ACT English

ACT English

I can share some tips and techniques that will help you get a higher score on the ACT READING and ENGLISH sections. For example, a few tricks that make it much easier to "rule out" similar, but INCORRECT, multiple choice answers. Also, I will share other READING and ENGLISH "rules" that will help you get more correct answers in those sections. Since the SCIENCE section also has a lot of reading in it, your science score may benefit too.
ACT Math

ACT Math

As you can probably tell, math is one of my strongest subjects. The ACT MATH section includes Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. I can help you concentrate on the areas where you need the most help, and make it much easier for you to reach your goal scores.
ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I can share some tips and techniques that will help you get a higher score on the ACT READING and ENGLISH sections. For example, a few tricks that make it much easier to "rule out" similar, but INCORRECT, multiple choice answers. Just these simple tricks alone have brought up students' scores by 4 points or MORE on the ACT READING section. I will share other READING and ENGLISH "rules" that will help you get more correct answers. Since the SCIENCE section also has a lot of reading in it, your science score may benefit too.
ACT Science

ACT Science

When I took the ACT exam, my highest score was in SCIENCE. I also did very well in math, reading, and English, so my overall score was in the top one percent in the nation. The ACT SCIENCE section covers three basic areas, which I like to call "Charts, Tables, and Graphs," (interpretation), "Experiments--causes and effects," and "Opposing Theories--aka Fighting Scientists." Some of the questions can be rather tricky. The GOOD NEWS is that you DON'T have to be good at science. All the information is given to help you answer the questions. I can help you learn how to understand and interpret the information given, so that you get a better score on the ACT SCIENCE section. With my help, you can jump to the right conclusions, and not the wrong ones.

If you, or someone you love, suffers with A.D.D. (or A.D.H.D), please read this! For many years, I have been studying A.D.D. and brain function, and how diet, exercise, medication, and lifestyle habits can help the learning and memory processes. I have read dozens of books on these subjects, and continue to keep up with the latest research, by reading articles, subscribing to newsletters, and communicating with doctors and specialists in Brain Health. Even though I have A.D.D. myself, I made excellent grades in school. I graduated at the top of my high school class, and graduated college with high honors. My A.C.T. score was in the top 1% in the nation. I have several family members (two of my own children, and one of my parents) who have A.D.D. or A.D.H.D. As a result of all this experience with A.D.D./A.D.H.D., I know some things that help a lot with the symptoms, and unique challenges, faced by a person with A.D.D. I can share what I have learned with you, and also share some of the resources and helpful secrets that can make a positive difference in your life. It helps to have every advantage... why not give yourself that gift? Please email me and let's talk soon!
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra I and Algebra II are my top specialties. When I was in high school, I entered the statewide HIGH SCHOOL MATH CONTESTS, and I placed in the top 10 each year for Algebra and Geometry. While I was in High School, one of the math teachers asked me to help tutor students who were struggling with math, so I tutored Math for several years in High School, and continued tutoring in College. I added more subjects each year, and tutored Math, Science, Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, Nursing, and Business students while I was in College. Like Forrest Gump, I just can't stop! I love seeing the "lightbulb" come on, when I am helping someone master a difficult math or science concept, and they "get it."
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra II was one of my favorite classes in High School. Maybe it is because I had a great teacher--Mr. Cornell--whose ancestors founded Cornell University. I entered the statewide HIGH SCHOOL MATH CONTEST, and I placed in the top 10 each year for Algebra I and II, and Geometry. I love seeing the "lightbulb" come on, when I am helping someone master a difficult math or science concept, and they "get it."

I have several years of experience tutoring for success on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test. As you probably know, this is the entrance exam for all branches of the U.S. military. Starting with the basics from Math Knowledge and Arithmetic Reasoning, to Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, and General Science, the test moves into more technical areas, such as Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, etc. I have some textbooks and study guides that have proven to be greatly helpful in preparing for this test. I would be happy to work with you to help you get a score that can help improve your chances of getting into your dream job (Military Occupational Specialty), and also improve your chances of getting a good sign on bonus (Enlistment bonus), based on your test scores. Please take a moment to set up your WyzAnt account, and we can give you all the details, and get you on your path to success on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test. If you follow this study program, I guarantee that you will be happy with the results.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have worked with Autistic and other special needs students for about 5 years, and I really enjoy helping to make a positive difference in the lives of these wonderful students. My youngest niece is Autistic, so our entire family is very understanding and supportive. Also, we have wonderful resources in the Birmingham area for Autistic individuals. Please contact me for additional information. I'm always glad to help! Here is a quote from a parent of one of my special needs students: "Paul very quickly picked up on how best to tutor him, what his strengths and weaknesses are, and how best to help him improve. My son has enjoyed every minute working with him, and we are both amazed at the degree of progress he has made. Paul has gone out of his way to customize his work to especially meet my son's needs. I can't imagine finding a better tutor for my son."
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I love reading and studying the Bible. I went to Christian schools from Kindergarten through High School, and took Bible classes in college too. My favorite college classes were on the subjects "Life and teachings of Jesus," and "Study of Last Day Events" which tells us how to prepare for the future on this planet, Earth, and how to get to Heaven after that. We have a tremendous hope when we understand the future and realize exactly where America is in prophecy today. The time-tested teachings of the Bible can bring us better health, inner peace, and prosperity.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

Biostatistics is a very important part of scientific research, and healthcare quality assurance, marketing, and product development, just to name a few. I have about 7 years of experience in tutoring Biostatistics, and I can help to translate it from biostatistical "Greek" to English and make it understandable for you. Many of my students bring grades up from D's and F's to A's and B's. I got A's in all of my statistics classes, and i would be honored to help you get A's in your Biostatistics class, or review your research, etc. You are welcome to contact me any time. I'm always glad to help!
Business

Business

I have several college degrees in business. I was the owner of a very successful business for over 10 years, and I started that business from scratch. In addition to my Business degrees, I have many years of experience helping Business owners as a CPA. I also taught University-level Business Courses. I have always enjoyed helping people improve their businesses, and knowledge of business accounting and information systems. You are welcome to contact me any time for help with Business Planning, Profitability Improvement, Quickbooks, Budgeting, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Business Statistics, Business Strategy, Management and Staffing issues, and anything else related to BUSINESS. For an easy way to reach me, you can click on the email link on this webpage: www.wyzant.com/tutors/MakingMathEasy
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus was never "easy" for me, but that might actually be good for you--Since I'm not a math wizard, I can explain in plain English, and "regular humans" can understand the explanations. The calculus courses that I have taken most recently relate to Business Majors in college and graduate programs, and most of my tutoring is geared to Accounting and Business majors. Here's the good news: When I study calculus with a student, I want to make sure I review the material a day or two before our lesson, so that I can be up to speed, and make good use of our time! You can adjust the pace, if you want to go faster or slower. (Some teachers just "fly" through the explanations, and leave some students in the dust). That is not how I work. I will be patient with you, and your satisfaction is always guaranteed.
Career Development

Career Development

Working in conjunction with a public university career center, I helped students write and improve resumes, prepare for interviews, and create and develop presentations and speeches. I have also helped with design of multi-media video projects, and proofread 2 books and numerous articles and research papers prior to publication.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am a chemistry teacher, and I have been tutoring chemistry since 2010. Most of my tutoring students get A's and B's in their classes. I will be happy to help you succeed in reaching your educational goals.

Elementary (K-6th)

I would be happy to work with you (or your student) to help with any subject covered in Kindergarten through 6th grade. I have been a substitute teacher for several years, teaching all grades from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. I also was a student teacher when I was in college and in graduate school, and I taught college level accounting courses as well. I specialize in math and science courses, but I have taught all basic elementary and middle school subjects as well as computer courses for grades 4, 5, and 6.

Financial Accounting

Financial Accounting

I passed the CPA exam, and have worked as a CPA licensed in several states. I don't currently do accounting for an occupation, but I am happy to help Accounting students and CPA candidates with challenging questions. Email me for details.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is one of my top specialties. When I was in high school, I entered the statewide HIGH SCHOOL MATH CONTESTS, and I placed in the top 10 in Geometry. One of the math teachers asked me to help tutor students who were struggling with Geometry, so I tutored for several years in High School, and continued tutoring in College. Many people struggle with PROOFS in Geometry, and I can help make them easier to understand and master. I love seeing the "lightbulb" come on, when I am helping someone master difficult Geometry concepts, and they "get it."
GMAT

GMAT

The GMAT is different from many other tests, because some questions are intentionally designed to be "trickier" than on other tests like the ACT or the SAT, for example. When I took the GMAT exam, my score was in the top 10% in the whole United States. I can help you avoid some of the common pitfalls, and help you find the correct answers that will bring your score up to where it represents your very best work. The time and energy that you dedicate to bringing up your GMAT score should PAY OFF by helping you get accepted to a better school, or schools, and ultimately will increase your earning potential for life. GMAT preparation is worth the effort, and your dedication will be rewarded well.
GRE

GRE

Congratulations on being one of the elite who is preparing for the GRE. The time and energy that you dedicate to bringing up your GRE score should PAY OFF by helping you get accepted to a better school, or schools, and ultimately will increase your earning potential for life. GRE exam preparation is worth the effort, and your dedication will be rewarded well. You deserve the best education, so why not give yourself the best tutoring? I can help you study more efficiently, and we can work together to focus on the areas where you can improve the most.

Photography

Photography

I took every class in photography offered at my high school and 4-year college, and got A's in all of my photography classes. I also worked for a professional photographer in Birmingham, Alabama for 3 years, and I have used most formats of cameras, including all film and digital media, and software applications for editing. My brother is a full-time professional photographer, and I have also worked with him--as his assistant--during the last 10 years.
Physics

Physics

Have you noticed that some Physics teachers just "fly" through the explanations, and leave some students in the dust? That is not how I work! Confession: Physics was never "easy" for me, but that might actually be good for you--Since I'm not a science wizard, I can explain in plain English, and "regular humans" can understand the explanations. Even though I got A's in my physics classes, it has been a few years, so I may be a little "rusty" on some concepts. Never fear-- Here's the good news: When I study Physics with you, I will make sure I review the material a day or two before our lessons, so that I can be up to speed and make good use of our time! You can adjust the pace, if you want to go faster or slower. We can practice different types of problems, until you are confident in your ability to solve them. My students all say they appreciate how patient I am with them. I understand, and I can relate to how if feels to work through the challenging problems, and need some help... We all need help sometimes. You can be confident that I will stick with you and help you get on track to reach your study goals. And your satisfaction is always guaranteed.
Praxis

Praxis

I have ALL of the study guides for the Praxis exams. Also I have taken Praxis II exams, and scored in the top 10 percent in the nation (United States). Precalculus

Precalculus

I have been tutoring precalculus for about 10 years, and most of my students get A's and B's in their classes.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

After taking public speaking classes myself, I have had opportunities to coach students on public speaking, with good results. My experience also includes helping to proofread speeches and presentations, revising content to improve effectiveness and clarity of communication. Years ago, my father was pastor and a professor at a Christian University, where he taught young men and women (who were entering the ministry) how to prepare and present their sermons, and other helpful presentations on health, wellness, financial fitness, and other relevant topics. You might say that my experience with public speaking started at an early age, since I started attending some of my dad's college lectures when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I enjoyed watching and listening to the students as they practiced delivering their sermons and other presentations.
QuickBooks

QuickBooks

For several years, I was a QUICKBOOKS-CERTIFIED Instructor for Quickbooks, in addition to being a CPA. I have always enjoyed helping people improve their businesses, and knowledge of business accounting and information systems. You are welcome to contact me any time for help with Quickbooks.
Reading

Reading

I have helped many students to improve their reading skills and scores on tests. I will be happy to help you with your reading too! Let's talk soon.
Sociology

Sociology

I have taken sociology classes, and gotten A's in them. I also spent two full years helping a special needs student so she could graduate with a 4-year college degree in Sociology from a public college. During the time we worked together, we brought her GPA up from the low 2.0 range to an ending GPA over 3.0 at her graduation.
Special Needs

Special Needs

Several years ago, I started working more and more with special needs students, and I really loved it. In a short time, the students I worked with began to show more motivation and more desire to learn. My mom worked with many special needs students during her teaching career, and it seems that I inherited from her a natural talent and love for working with special needs students. For example, one little boy who would never speak for anyone but his parents started talking when I was working with him. Other students also showed better-than-expected progress in my classroom, and I found it to be very rewarding. I'd love to help you--or your son or daughter--to succeed in school, and in life. Please drop me an email, and let's talk soon!
Statistics

Statistics

I have been tutoring statistics classes for over 10 years, with most of my students getting A's and a few B's, coming up from D's and F's. I'll do my best to flex with your schedule, and make statistics classes easier for you.
Study Skills

Study Skills

Each of us have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning. Some students learn best by SEEING, others learn best by HEARING, and others learn best by a "HANDS-ON" LEARNING approach. I can tailor our lessons to the areas you are stronger in, and help you improve in areas that are not your dominant learning style. This first step will help your general STUDY SKILLS. In addition to that, we can work together to improve general study skills such as organization, time management and scheduling, and TEST TAKING skills. I also help with ways to beat "test anxiety," and help you stay focused on what works the best for you. My main subjects are math and science, but I can also help with reading, English, writing, and many other STUDY SKILLS.
Tax Accounting

Tax Accounting

I have over 10 years of experience as a tax professional and CPA. I have prepared every kind of personal and business tax return that is used by the I.R.S., and tax returns from many states too. In addition to income taxes, I can also help with State of Alabama BUSINESS Privilege taxes, Sales taxes, tax disputes, and other tax issues. If you need help with your Individual Form 1040, or AL 40, or any business, corporation, LLC, or partnership tax returns, please feel free to contact me for assistance. Even though I am now "retired" from being a CPA, I keep up with all of the tax updates and take tax classes every year, so I can stay current on all of the latest tax laws and tax-saving techniques for individuals and businesses. Please let me know how I can help you with your tax questions or tax problems.

Upbeat, Patient and Flexible

My daughter (a senior in a private school) excels in math. Recently, however, she was disappointed with her math score from her SAT test. We sought out Paul's instruction for a boost before retaking the test. The skills that he has taught her will no doubt be of great value for her upcoming exam. His teaching methods are effective. Instead of pushing his agenda on my daughter he would first watch her work a problem then help her identify ways of improving her strategies. He was able to help her identify her weak points while being careful not to waste time practicing skills that she already knows. Most importantly, he was quick to point out her strong points before making suggestions for improvement, which is critical in building confidence within the student. Additionally, at no point did my daughter ever feel as if Paul was not knowledgeable enough to help her improve her score. I've read reviews on other profiles that suggest the tutor teaches gimmicks. Not Paul! After each lesson with Paul, my daughter would come home stating that she had no doubt Paul could achieve a perfect score on the SAT or ACT math section of the test. This is most likely because Paul is on the cutting edge of SAT knowledge. When we met with him, he was keenly aware of the differences between the old test and the new and was quick to help my daughter design a strategy around conquering the newest test. Being a teacher myself, it is my motto that it doesn't matter how much knowledge a person possesses if he or she is not able to relay that information to a student in a comprehensible and relatable manner. Paul teaches at the student's level. My daughter felt more like he was coach than a tutor - one who continually urged her to do her very best. He is an upbeat tutor who arrives at each lesson with a new idea, book, calculator or CD that he feels will help the student excel. For those concerned about his availability, we found his schedule is quite flexible. I would highly recommend Paul as your future tutor for either yourself or for your child.

Excellent tutor. Really wants you to succeed!

Paul gave a fantastic lesson. We went over some concepts and problems that I didn’t really understand. He explained them to me in a manner that was both helpful and applicable. He was very patient with me and worked with me until we had the assignment completed and I understood the work. I will absolutely go to him again as I prepare for my final!

Wonderful Tutor!

My college freshman is working with Paul, tackling accounting! No small feat for a student who is struggling with the subject. Paul came to his rescue! He patiently explained complex ideas to help my son understand the subject in a much better way. Charlie is so relieved to be working with Paul! I'm thrilled I located such a great tutor via Wyzant! Thank you Paul!

GREAT tutor!!

Paul is a wonderful tutor. He helped me with an online statistics course and without his help I would have done poorly in the class. He really wants to see students succeed. He is also very patient and kind and will explain anything to you if you just ask him. He also has a very flexible schedule and will help students through email or phone if you are unable to meet up. I highly recommend him!!

Natalie, 7 lessons with Paul

Quick to respond, very patient

I am lacking in the most basic areas of math skills, but when I meet with Paul he doesn't speak condescendingly or get frustrated by my lack of knowledge. He is quick to respond to communication and makes what could be a daunting lesson something that we take one step at a time. I am very excited about the future lessons and what we will accomplish!
