Hello! I am an experienced writer whose publishing credits include a YA novel from Park End books and short fiction in Factor Four Magazine. I especially enjoy science fiction and fantasy. I received a BA in English from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) in 2005, and a Master's in Education in Spring 2024. During graduate school I also worked as a student assistant on the academic magazine Education About Asia.

I've been working as a substitute teacher for ESS in the Hamilton County Schools system since January 2024. Most of my experience, including student teaching, is with middle and high schoolers. During my training, I received special praise for my ability to work with individual students or small groups, helping them get to the root of whatever is giving them difficulty.

As an educator, my chief interest is in promoting literacy. I firmly believe literacy instruction doesn't end with elementary school. It's about building the knowledge and vocabulary to read a variety of texts with a variety of complexities. It's about helping students grasp the themes and implications of a text. It's about developing self-reliance so that they'll never need ChatGPT to write or explain a text for them. Instead, it will be their own understanding, creativity, and effort that helps them succeed.

Please let me know if you're interested in scheduling a lesson. I'll respond as fast as I can. I look forward to working with you!

I have been writing my own fiction since 2000. In 2017, I self-published my first novel, Thresholds of the Grand Dream, and in 2022, Park End Books published my novel Feast of the Sisters. My short fiction has been featured in the Dragon Gems Summer 2024 anthology and in Factor Four Magazine.

I received a BA in English from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2000. I also have a Master's in Education from the same institution, received in 2024. I am a passionate writer and a voracious reader. Spelling and grammar are quite simply second nature to me.
