Dr. Li K. has competed successfully in several competitions, including winning the “Top Emerging Artists” competition in Asia, the International Trombone Association Frank Smith Competition, Bowling Green State University Concerto Competition, and the Sichuan Province Government Scholarship. Dr. K. presented solo recitals across the US and China. Solo appearances including the International Trombone Festival, American Trombone Workshop, Big XII Trombone Conference, Jinbao International Low Brass Festival. Equally comfortable in the orchestral realm, Dr. K. appeared with Sichuan Symphony Orchestra/Opera Orchestra, Sichuan Film Orchestra, Chengdu Philharmonic, and several notable orchestras in the United States. As a teacher, Dr. K. teaches a broad age spectrum of trombone students and has given masterclasses at universities and conservatories such as Vanderbilt University, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Bowling Green State University, China Conservatory, Jilin College of Fine Arts, Yantai University and more. Dr. K. adjudicated several important trombone competitions at International Trombone Association, American Trombone Workshop National Tenor & Bass Trombone Solo Competitions, Jinbao International Low Brass Grand Prix, Big XII Trombone Solo Competitions and a few more.
Dr. K. attended several important trombone seminars and workshops, including the prestigious Alessi Seminar, Michael Mulcahy Trombone Class, Summer Trombone Workshop. Continuing to serve the role of “ambassador” to China and the US in the trombone field, Dr. K. works tirelessly to build connections between these two countries.
Currently the Assistant Professor of Music at Murray State University, Dr. K. previously taught Low Brass at Southwestern University (TX), Blinn College (TX), and the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. K. earned his DMA f
