I have educated and inspired college, high school, and middle school students for 33 years as a mathematics instructor, specializing in calculus but capable of teaching all levels of math. The quantitative success of my students is phenomenal, consistently among the highest achievement in the state of Tennessee. I have played an instrumental role in designing curricula for district and state testing. I have also developed my own curriculum for home school students, allowing them to earn official credit for precalculus and calculus.

I am that rare teacher who is capable of making math fun, interesting, and applicable. My style is engaging and passionate because I love and deeply understand mathematics, a passion that is passed along to those I teach and tutor. I am able to pinpoint areas of weakness that need strengthening, sharpening prerequisite skills to make learning new topics easier to absorb. I have the ability to take any difficult concept and break it into smaller, easier parts, offering strategies and techniques that will simplify a student's approach to a problem. Most importantly, I am able to change a student's conception of mathematics, altering their approach to a drastically different method of thought that is far more efficient and allows effortless simplification of even rigorous problems.

I have classroom experience teaching Prealgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC.

I have taught and tutored AP Calculus for almost thirty years (1989-present) with tremendous results and a passion that is infectious among students. My AP exam scores were the highest in Tennessee in eight different years since 2001 and consistently ranked among the best in the nation. The hundreds of students with whom I have worked have averaged a 4.5 on the AP test. I can tutor both the AB and BC levels as well as Calc 2.

I have taught Honors Precalculus at the high school level for 17 years, even serving on a panel in my school district to develop an updated precalculus curriculum for the county. My students' scores on the end-of-year examination have consistently been the highest in the district and are frequently the highest in the state of Tennessee (according to an independent university study on the most successful school districts in upper-level mathematics in Tennessee). Although I use a textbook as a resource, I have completely designed my own curriculum, fine-tuned over the years to perfection to achieve maximum scores and impeccable readiness for AP Calculus.
