In 2018, I left the public classroom and began working as a private tutor. Many of my students are dyslexic or have dyslexic traits. The O-G method I use with students has enabled them to grow tremendously, both in skills and confidence.
Some students I work with need help with vocabulary acquisition and gaining better reading comprehension skills. Really, I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to teaching ELA, whether it be reading, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, or writing skills.
A subject in particular that I love to teach and that students love to learn is morphology. This entails the study of word parts, such as prefixes, suffixes, and roots that are either Greek or Latin in origin. Studying morphology will definitely enhance students' vocabulary skills and will prepare them for the complex vocabulary they will encounter in high school and college.
