My name is Christy. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2000. I have been teaching in the public school system for 15 years. I have always been drawn to teachers who make learning fun. Since this is so important to me as a learner I try to do the same thing for my students. I like to introduce the lesson in a fun way then I follow this with the I do, we do, you do method of gradual release. Through this process the student should be able to complete portions or all of the problems on their own by the end of the lesson. This process gives the student the support they need to gain the confidence to be successful.
I have three years of tutoring one on one during summer breaks. I am the Title I teacher at my school and have been for the past 15 years. During this time I have taught students in small groups who have difficulties in Reading and Math. I also hold the position as RTI Coordinator and decide what we will teach in our RTI groups. I really enjoy working with the students and watching them grow.
I am open to resources or ideas from parents and students because I want the students to enjoy the lessons and grow academically. I am always available and easy to contact. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
