Hi, I'm Ariana! I studied French & Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Lee University, where I led a French language cafe for other students and taught English to adults in the community. I spent two summers studying French in Normandy, France and teaching English in Cota, Colombia. After graduating in 2017, I taught ESL and French at my local high school for 7 years. Even with the challenges of large class sizes and a wide range of student needs, I was able to help build a successful and growing language program with high levels of student engagement. I worked hard to make my language lessons as fun and communicative as possible; I firmly believe language learning can be engaging and useful, not just translation and memorizing sentences out of a textbook! I also tutored privately for middle & high school students. In 2021 I decided to further my own education and enrolled in a masters program at the University of Southern Mississippi. These courses helped me reflect on and refine my teaching skills and discover new ways to incorporate the most current and effective language teaching strategies.

I now teach part-time at my local university and have loved getting to expand my teaching repertoire! I enjoy working with students to help them make progress in their learning and find enjoyment in learning another language. My favorite thing is seeing a student have a breakthrough with something they've really been struggling with!

I hold a Tennessee teaching certification in TESOL (K-12) and French (7-12) as well as an International TESOL certificate, a masters' degree in Teaching Foreign Language, and I have worked with high school, university, and adult students.
