I applied and auditioned to DePaul University's Theatre School B.F.A. Acting program in 2003. Out of nearly 900 other applicants that year, I, along with 46 other students, was accepted into their prestigious acting conservatory program. I successfully completed a year of theatre studies at DePaul before transferring to the Claire Trevor School of Arts at University of California at Irvine. According to U.S. News and World Report (2005), the Claire Trevor School of the Arts is among the top 10 best theatre schools in a public university. Throughout my university career, I studied script analysis, history of drama, scenic design, costume design, lighting design, acting, screenwriting, dramaturgy as well as performed in over a dozen productions, including both classical and modern plays. I also performed improvised comedy for the award-winning college improv team, "Live Nude People with Clothes On". After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles along with my friends from my improv team. From 2008-2010, we performed sketches which we had written ourselves as well as improv comedy live at ImprovOlympics West Theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Theatre, and with The Groundlings.
