Beyond my experience as a certified teacher, I also tutored in college for 3 semesters. This duty involved tutoring remotely/online for students across my state of residence. This was a great experience as I was able to work with students of varying ages, from elementary students to high school students. I had several returning students who would request sessions with me weekly.
My approach to teaching and tutoring is through demonstration and then when I feel a student is ready, I will let them take the lead in problem solving. I like to show students how to approach problems with appropriate strategies and after repetition, demonstrate that they understand how to apply the strategies to different problems. I enjoy watching students learn and seeing things click. I also like to keep math fun and engaging. I understand that mathematics is not everybody's favorite subject, but I try my best to make it more enjoyable!
