Hello, I am in my 20th year of teaching elementary public school. I have taught 1,2,3 and 4th with a specific style that caters to the student's emotional and mental needs, while successfully encouraging and motivating the success that is within them. I am looking for a new avenue to challenge myself to reach more specific students who had difficulty like myself and meet their individual concerns. I was a student who moved often in my young academic career, and because of this, I am aware of the unsugar-coated challenges that face students today. The mindset and feelings that block students from being capable and motivated is the main focus of my personalized instruction. I incorporate writing from the heart and head to help connect children to their learning and retention. I not only academically inspire students but also help them to realize their full potential beyond the school stuff.
My philosophy of teaching is to build a connection and relate the academics that are needed to the individual person. I remember what the frustration and confusion were like and how it felt when I was on the other side of the desk. My goal as a teacher is to facilitate students who might have similar issues and show them there is a way to grow that isn't boring or difficult. I have a humorous and compassionate delivery, a bit of a stern Mary Poppins without the singing. I love setting goals for the collaboration. I believe in straightforward communication and cooperation while reflecting on accomplishments and improvements.
I currently teach third grade in public school. I manage 26 students in a classroom setting where small group instruction and one on one are my main focus.
