My Approach:
I assess the student's needs and goals in the first class. It is my preference that the student comes with work they have questions for or at least the topic they would like for us to be industrious with. I use a tool for all tutoring (I did tutor for another tutor company before Wyzant), and with this tool, the student would be given access to unlimited questions for their subject from Kindergarten up to Calculus. I break down math problems per concept for the students, to help them understand them in an easier way. The main goal is to build confidence, so that when they see that type of problem again, they have no hesitation, only to remember the process. With me, students will be able to develop their communication skills as well that pertain to "speaking" like math. They will sound intelligible, learning proper notation and words for the concepts we do as well.
Currently, I am able to sign contracts with students if they need, and I could help them with many sessions (like a season) or if they only felt they needed a few sessions. Furthermore, I am open to instant tutorings, and could even do one-off's. I am tutoring currently and can make known my availability during the first interactions with the client. I am happy to meet at a uniform time every week, or to work out a schedule that varies, as long as the communication is consistent and comfortable for both parties.
I know that we can accomplish a lot in a little bit of time, and can make clear goals and stick by them. I also have access to assessments where the student would have the ability to take a subject test for their grade level or math subject (Algebra 1 or 8th Pre-Algebra, for example)
