I'm Ryan, a certified math teacher of 7 years with a Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education. My degree concentrations include social studies and mathematics. While in college education courses focused on math, I realized that so much of what I or my peers struggled with in math was due to not having diversity in the way we were taught. I started to feel like math really "clicked" like puzzle pieces together and instead of just knowing how to do math, I truly understood the "why" and "how" of it all. With this newfound love of mathematics, I started concentrating my degree in teaching middle school math. Getting to work with students who may feel those same struggles I once felt in middle school and seeing their confidence grow is my passion.

I have tutored in person and virtually, starting in college and continuing into my teaching career. I believe that there are many ways to learn and understand math topics, and that the goal is to find what works for each student. Whether a student needs hands-on manipulatives, drawings, songs, or repetitive practice, I work to find the best method for each of my students to be successful. I have taught both 7th and 8th grade students in math, but have tutored students from elementary school all the way to high school. I have experience with Algebra, Geomtery, and Calculus courses, but am open to and confident in helping students with any level of mathematics. I am certified to teach gifted and talented students and I also have plenty of experience working with students with IEPs or 504 plans.
