I am a former classroom teacher and private tutor with nearly two decades of experience supporting students across elementary, secondary, and postsecondary pathways. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, completed graduate studies at Harvard University and UCLA, and completed formal teacher preparation through the UCLA Teacher Education Program with California Single Subject preparation in English (grades 6–12). I am currently completing my TEFL certification. I have taught in public school districts in Boston and Los Angeles and now work primarily in one-on-one tutoring and small group learning settings.

My primary specialization is Academic English across all domains—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—with a particular focus on international and multilingual students entering higher education. I have extensive experience supporting students from Asia as they transition into U.S. colleges, universities, and English-medium academic programs. My work includes academic reading comprehension, analytical and research writing, grammar and syntax, academic vocabulary development, oral presentation skills, listening strategies for lectures and seminars, and SAT Reading and Writing preparation. I help students bridge the gap between conversational English and the expectations of rigorous academic coursework.

My tutoring approach is structured, calm, and highly individualized. I believe students learn best when expectations are clear and instruction is responsive to their strengths and challenges. Drawing on my background in education research and prevention science, I focus on helping students understand not just what to do, but why academic English works the way it does across disciplines. Families value my clear explanations, steady presence, and ability to break complex academic tasks into manageable steps that build both skill and confidence, ultimately supporting students in becoming independent, self-directed academic learners.
