I have a Master's degree in psychology from New York University and extensive experience teaching and tutoring hundreds of high school, undergraduate, and graduate-level students in test preparation (GRE/SAT), Statistics, and Psychology. I have also tutored high school math subjects including pre-algebra, algebra I, and geometry.

I have taught GRE & SAT courses covering all content and components (quantitative/verbal/writing) of these exams. Using my degree in psychology, I deliberately provide psychoeducation related to test preparation including goal setting, test taking strategies, maintaining motivation and attention, and managing stress and anxiety; all of which I have found to be critically important in improving scores. As a research associate by trade, I believe that data should guide the effective use of our time together, and so I regularly prepare test gains graphs and performance analyses for all my students regarding common mistakes, strengths, weaknesses, and score changes. I emphasize tailoring strategies to maximize individual student improvement, and I assign homework to solidify mastery of material. Previous SAT test prep students have regularly seen gains of 200+ points within 6 weeks under my direction.

In statistics, I specialize in teaching social science students, but I am happy to teach towards other disciplines, as well as AP Statistics for high school students. Specifically, I address conceptual material, teach computational procedures, and employ the use of SPSS statistical programming for topics such as data description, variance and variability, hypothesis testing (e.g., t-tests, ANOVAs), correlations, and regressions, among other things. I am also willing to tutor exclusively in the use of SPSS and syntax writing for those who need more specialized computer training.

I also tutor within the social sciences (Psychology & Sociology). My undergraduate triple major in psychology, sociology, and women's studies, along with my master's degree in psychology afford me a broad knowledge

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Hands down an absolute angel. I reached out VERY last minute and was pretty lost and Chelsea has done above and beyond. Not only she helped in a mannerly time but she actually took the time to review my material before the meeting to ensure she can help me with. She’s truly amazing and clearly has excellent working ethics— many tutors would just run the clock to charge more tbh… in terms of the material itself, she helped me understand some R output and really simplify it. Extremely patient and very kind while teaching — i wish I found her earlier to be honest …highly recommended.

Very knowledgeable, extremely well versed and with a great approach to students

My son has had 3 classes with Chelsea already and we couldn't be happier. She is an excellent tutor, very patient and with a great approach, explaining difficult material in a very approachable way. My son truly enjoys working with Chelsea and is making a great progress already. I am very thankful for finding such a great tutor and the progress I see already with my son's goals.

Chelsea is Fantastic

Chelsea has been working with my daughter on SAT prep, and she is great. She is always prepared, they have put together a clear plan for taking the test, and my daughter loves working with her. I have no doubt her scores will go up next time she takes the test.

Very helpful tutor

My son is in tenth grade and needed some help with test taking strategies. Chelsea was very knowledgeable with a number of different methods to help with time management during exams. Chelsea also worked on test review for an Algebra 2 honors exam. We will use Chelsea again !

Patient, knowledgeable, and pleasant tutor!

It is not easy tutoring my son, but Chelsea has been doing a great job getting him ready for the math portion of his SAT test. She is also a great communicator, both with me and with my son. Book her!
