Hello! My name is Will. I was born in New York, but grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I currently reside in Raleigh.

I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I majored in Music and minored in Chinese.

I earned my music teaching license through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. I also hold a music teaching license in the state of Hawaii. I have been teaching private lessons since 2010 and has worked as a elementary, middle, and high school music in North Carolina and China since 2014. I have lead my ensembles to achieve numerous awards and recognition, my most recent being leading three bands to place within top five during the 2017 province wide marching band competition in Qingdao, China.

I have performed with orchestral, jazz, and Latin ensembles over the course of my career and is very well versed with various styles of music. The age of my lesson students range from 8 to 17.

My parents were born in China and I grew up speaking Cantonese. In college, I minored in Chinese to further my comprehension skills. During my studies in college, I received 2nd place in the 2012 UNC Chinese Essay Writing Contest and 1st place in the 2013 Chinese Speech Contest. I currently am fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese. I recently moved back to the U.S after working as a music teacher in China for two years.

My teaching methods focuses on helping my students discover their own personal approach in learning. No two individuals are exactly alike so I understand that what works for me may not work for my students. I believe that when a student finds what "clicks" with them, they will soar exponentially. I help my students find their own unique learning style through patience and steady pacing. My teaching will also focus on instilling individual discipline as part of my students' routine. My students will realize that they need to desire success in order to achieve success.
