I am a certified mathematics teacher with over five years of experience teaching students in grades 6–8. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Level Education with a concentration in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I have taught a wide range of learners, including general education, honors, and multilingual learners, and I have experience teaching foundational mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. I have also co-taught alongside special education educators, giving me experience adapting instruction and providing additional support to meet a variety of learning needs.
My tutoring approach is centered around making math understandable, approachable, and relevant to each student. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are given multiple ways to understand a concept. I use guided practice, visual models, real-world examples, questioning strategies, and step-by-step explanations to help students strengthen their numeracy skills and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. I focus not only on improving academic skills, but also on building math confidence so students feel capable and empowered to tackle challenging problems independently.
Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to strengthen foundational skills, is preparing for an upcoming assessment, or simply wants to feel more confident in math, I tailor each session to their individual needs and learning style. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students can make mistakes, ask questions, build their numeracy skills, and leave each session feeling more confident than when they started.
