Hi, my name is Marshall! I am currently a professional violist in the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and have been playing the viola since the age of 10. I free lance all across the south, playing gigs anywhere between Florida and North Carolina. I graduated in 2025 from the Peabody Conservatory at the Johns Hopkins University. Here, I studied with accomplished violist CJ Chang, principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Throughout my time as a student, I have had the opportunity to work with countless teachers who were fortunate enough to study with legendary violists such as William Primrose, Karen Tuttle, and Heidi Castleman.
Through my many years as a student, I have studied with many profound teachers, and I want to share how this knowledge has helped me become the successful musician I am today. I encourage important musical aspects such as moods, textures, and feelings. At the same time, I want to insure that the student understands rhythm, intonation, and good tone in the correct ways!
I have had opportunities to sit side-by-side with youth ensembles with the symphony and have hosted many concerts for children. For 1 year I taught a large group of 20 ten-year-olds violin, viola, cello, and bass. I am very professional with my work, and I respond to emails within the day.
