Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught a variety of subjects at the elementary level for over 10 years now. Some of the subjects include math, science, reading, phonics, vocabulary, grammar and social studies. I worked with differentiated instruction and have experienced the joy in students to know they are being approached at their level. My students were always encouraged to be creative. The learning environment was safe, fun and presented an equal opportunity for everybody to learn. I think the key to the success of the student is developing good study skills. This will allow the student to perform better and be able to work independently.

ESL/ESOL

I am a native Spanish speaker and have been teaching English to Spanish speaking kids and adults for more than 10 years.

Phonics

I have taught English to elementary students for over 10 years. In my experience, phonics is very important to help students succeed with spelling and therefore with reading. Working with rhymes, comparing and differentiating sounds should be fun and entertaining to kids. The best approach to phonics is to follow the sequence of teaching letters and their sounds to then work with blending, digraphs, syllables and words with higher complexity.
