I hold a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, earned cum laude, both from Walden University. My coursework covered management, organizational leadership, operations, financial management, microeconomics, and decision sciences. Because both programs were competency-based, I learned material by applying it to real business problems, and that is how I approach tutoring: connecting theory to situations students can recognize.
I am a Senior HR Business Partner at KBR with 25 years of experience in human resources, and I currently lead and develop a team of deputy program managers. Much of my work is one-on-one teaching. I mentor managers through individualized development plans, coach them through difficult employee situations, and break down policies and processes so they can apply them with confidence. I write and share a weekly leadership lesson with my managers and have helped roll out a site-wide training initiative based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I have also helped friends and family strengthen their resumes and prepare for interviews.
The people I have taught so far are adults, from early-career professionals to experienced managers, in one-on-one, small group, and workplace training settings. My approach is practical and patient. I start by learning what the student already knows and what they need to accomplish, whether that is passing a business course, understanding a concept for work, or landing a job. I explain ideas in plain language, use real workplace examples, and check understanding with practice questions before moving on. I enjoy working with college students and adult learners in business, management, human resources, and career preparation.
