I am an outstanding English Language Arts and Math tutor because I love the craft. I have had proven success in my professional career while working with children, and in my personal endeavors by obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in Reading Language Arts, a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education K-6 (all subjects), and several professional development certificates in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math . I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading K-12, which supports all components of English Language Arts. I have a state certification to teach in this area. I also have access to resources to support your child's learning needs to help them be successful on the ACT Exam.

I currently teach sixth grade literature in middle school. My past experience includes 10+ years teaching literature in elementary school. I expose my students to a variety of genres, to include fiction and nonfiction novels and passages. While exposing my students to various genres of literature, I teach the comprehension skills: main idea, author's purpose, author's argument, making inferences, author's point of view, sequence of events, text features, text structure, context clue, vocabulary, summarizing, etc. I enjoy teaching students to read and to explore literature.

I taught third grade for nine years, which included teaching phonics instruction as a part of reading instruction. A part of my educational training includes teaching phonics as a part of literacy instruction.

I hold a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's of Education in Reading: Curriculum and Instruction. One of the requirements for obtaining each degree was to write essays and research papers. I successfully mastered the skill of proofreading. I also have 10+ years of experience teaching the writing process to students in elementary and middle school.

I have been a classroom teacher for over 15 years. My experience with publicly speaking comes through day to day lesson presentations to students.
